A Message from Dr. Martin: Thank you to Veterans

These are difficult and trying times in which we as a nation face many daunting challenges – some of which test our basic beliefs and make us apprehensive about the future – thus it is fitting that we stop and reflect on our many blessings and the people who got us and keep us here. It is time to honor our veterans – the protectors of liberty and our ability to exercise freedom of choice and speech.

As I have read about war, it is unfathomable to imaging enduring the beaches of Normandy, the repressive heat and diseases of the Pacific, the sub-zero temperatures, difficult terrain, and unseen enemy in Korea, the conditions of Vietnam, and the terrifying uncertainty behind every rock in the Middle East.

While we live comfortably with our everyday concerns, I thank God for those who care so much for America, our Constitution, and our Flag, that they are willing to stand on the line every day for us. These are times to reach out and thank our veterans; the men and women who so believe in America that since 1775 they have willingly sacrificed and endured the greatest of hardships answering the call of our nation so that we can live safely and free, and that people like me can continue to care for others in peace.

As the proud son of a veteran, I thank all veterans for their service and sacrifice, and specifically our VVC veterans:
